Jaisalmer & Jodhpur #TravelStory

Hello you beautiful people! Hope you'll are having a great day and enjoying the last few days of the so-called Mumbai winter. Not going to lie, I'm loving the Bombay weather for a change. Anyways, the Jodhpur and Jaisalmer travel story has been long overdue, but I totally blame it on college and homework and tests and of course my laziness to compile the gazillion images I clicked! So for those of you who have absolutely no idea of what I'm talking about, I visited Rajasthan at the end of 2016 and celebrated New Year's with the fam in the chilly deserts of Jaisalmer after which I spent a couple of more days exploring the historic city of Jodhpur. It was a short getaway from the hustling city which gave me a deep insight into how amazingly gorgeous our country is! One of my New Year's resolution this year was to visit more places in India and kick starting the year with a trip to Rajasthan made things fall in the right place. Jaisalmer has topped my travel list because deserts weirdly fascinate me and the rich Rajasthani culture makes you feel so proud to be Desi! Moving on to my trip, here's how it all began.

#AIRPORTOOTD Top and Jacket: Zara, Joggers: Only,
Shoes: Vero Moda, Bag: Accesorize.

When: 6:00am
Where: Chathrapati Shivaji terminus
So we had an early start to the trip with a 7 am flight, but who's complaining because I love airports. (I hope it's a normal thing) When you have a very punctual father you tend to have a lot of free time to spare before catching the flight! So starbucks and window shopping happened and then we were off to Jodhpur.

We reached Jodhpur at about 12:00pm and had a quick stop at Mc Donalds beginning our 6 hour long road trip to Jaisalmer. Funny story, we tracked our way to Mc Donalds using Google maps and our driver had a strong hatred towards it. He constantly challenged it's routes and timings till the end of the trip which was hilarious to see!
Alas! began the road trip which means 2012 Eminem raps, haldiram snackables and of course loads of funny sleeping faces!

Fast forward to 8:00pm and we've arrived at our tents! Small, sophisticated and cozy. It was around 16 degree Celsius and we wrapped ourselves with blankets and monkey caps to spent our New Year's eve by the bonfire with great music and food.

The next day it was time to explore Jaisalmer city which was about an hour long ride away from our tents in the Desert. The journey though was a first for me because of the dense fog! The roads were an absolute blur and I'm surprised that I am still sitting here typing this:-) That morning I visited the Jaisalmer Fort which like any fort in Rajsthan was mesmerizing! The highlight of this fort was the top floor which overlooks the brown bricked city of Jaisalmer. Ever terrace of the antique forts have been transformed into a cafe or lounge making ever corner of the city so picturesque.

That evening  was reserved for camel rides and so we were off to the Desert again to enjoy ourselves a magnificent sunset in the sand dunes.

We ended the day with some folk music and a delicious meal of Lal maas!

Day 3 was another day full of travelling. For me the journey is always better than the destination so well, I was enjoying the road trip. It took us another 5 hours to reach Jodhpur. Mid-way we stopped at a Haveli for lunch. It was fascinating to see how these little palaces, forts and Havelis have converted into cute cafes without loosing it's aesthetic. Lunch was great and off we were again to finish the last leg of the road journey.

Flats: Tresmode.

Finally, after seeing a lot of solitary desert land we could sense the hustle of the city again. In Jodhpur, we stayed at Welcome Hotel and I must say that it was the highlight of Jodhpur. The open spaces and intricate architecture was just a dream for me!

Again, we explored Jodhpur and did a little tour. Here are some photos.

That evening we visited the Sardar market near the Clock tower in Jodhpur to shop for some Bandhani and mirrored bags and chappals. The atmosphere of the market was incomparable with hawkers selling their handicrafts in the gullies to the men frying jalebis at the nukkad of the streets.
We called it a day off before collecting some pokemons in the garden, don't judge.

I was filled with nostalgia while writing this and going through photos which makes me wonder where my next adventure is going to be. I hope you liked reading this post as much as I liked creating it for you guys. In a few days I am also going to upload a video about the trip that I'm super excited to share.
