Top picks for acne prone skin! // Updated skincare routine

Just like every other teenage girl, I have faced the age old problem of the never ending cycle of acne. For most of my school life I was barely affected by it and embraced it as a side effect hitting puberty. Soon, I had to pay for my ignorant attitude. My skin was patchy, oily and my pimples were out of control especially during that time of the month. About six months ago I decided to give my skin the must needed attention it deserved. So, since the past few months I've been following (or trying to) a skin regime and I wanted to share it with you guys because it has helped me so so so much. No, don't have spotless skin, but new pimples have stopped being uninvited guests and skin has never felt more hydrated and nourished. Here are a few products and techniques if you're having a bad skin day and should definitely try!

Disclaimer! Most of the products I use are natural so test them before trying it out. Also, a product that worked for me might not work for yours.

My skin care routine is very basic and essentially consists of three important steps. It consists of cleansing, toning and moisturising

- Morning Routine!

- As soon as I wake up, I make sure I wash my face thoroughly to get rid of any dirt or oil. The face wash I use is the 'Delicate Facial Cleanser from Forest Essentials in Kashmiri Saffron & Neem' The product has been vital in helping my skin heel and I use it atlas twice a day. As it's name suggests, it is very gentle and helps prevent further formation of acne. It does not help in getting rid of acne scars, but I'm certainly not complaining! Another product I use for cleansing is the 'Kama Ubtan' soap free cleanser. Just add a few drops to it and clean your face with it, it works great too!

- The next step is toning. As you guys know I'm a fan of natural products so Rose water was indeed my first choice. At first I was apprehensive about whether it would suit my skin type. After using it for almost a month I can definitely say it has done only good to me. Apart from toning it also helps in cleansing and refreshing your face. My go-to is the 'Dabur Gulabari Rose water' available easily in drug stores. Sometimes I also switch to 'Kara Toning Skin wipes in Rose' if I'm on the go and need some freshness. I usually leave the product on my face for a minute before jumping on the next step.

- Next step is probably one of the most underrated step. Living in the Tropics, I considered a moisturiser of any use only during a winter holiday, but little did I know that my oily skin was craving it!  Your skin tends to get oily when it isn't sufficiently hydrated. So I've started moisturising my skin at least thrice a day to keep it nourished.  My dermatologist recommended the 'Cetaphil' lotion that is really popular. It is a very light weight product and is perfect for pre makeup. Nivea works for me too, but I don't prefer applying it during summers due to its thick consistency.

- Night Routine!

My night routine is typically the same. Instead of the moisturiser I use my 'Kumkumadi Teenage night cream' that I have written about before.

- Face packs and exfoliators

Home remedies are my go to when it comes to face packs and exfoliators. 'Turmeric + yogurt + rose water' makes the best one indeed! Leave it on till it sort of hardens and gently massage it on your face. It works as a great exfoliator and gives an instant glow. Turmeric has great healing properties and works well for me. I make sure I'm doing this once or twice a week.

- Makeup

Makeup doesn't actually cause acne but thats only if you're taking a hell lot of time to remove it. I use a mac makeup remover to get rid of the lip and eye products followed by an intense face wash to melt the makeup and get rid of it. Removing makeup is crucial especially if you are prone to acne so make sure you're using products that are alcohol and oil free and suitable for blemished skin which isn't too harsh.

- Diet (Work in process)

Excess dairy and oily food takes a toll on your skin very quickly. What you eat basically shows on the outside too. I've been trying to avoid eating outside a lot and have been trying to switch fried snacks with dry fruits or a fruit bowl. Milk is one drink I can't do without so I slowly trying cut down my consumption of milk and milk products too.

- Water, lots of it!

Drinking water is so important for your skin! Drinking at least 6-7 glasses of water can bring out a drastic change. Ditch the coffee and aerated drinks for some plain water because the simpler the better!

Thats it guys! If this did hep you, comment down below!

// July Favorites //

Goodbye July and a warm hello to August! I know, I know, it is almost the middle of this month and I'm a little late but it's never too late to do a favorites post I guess! In this post I'm talking about some products and items I've been using or wearing and loving this season. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw this list first! Nevertheless, follow me on Instagram if you haven't already to see a snippet of my newest posts. Without further yap-ping (if that's a word haha) let's get into it >>

# Victoria's Secret Body Lotion

In my recent trip to Scandinavia, I bought some items from the 'Pink' range of Victoria's Secret, one of which was the Wild & Breezy body lotion. The body lotion needless to say smells amaazing. The consistency is not very thick and sticky which is what I personally prefer. It does not have any sun protection which could be it's only flaw. Apart from that, it does a great job at hydrating my skin and creates a perfect base for any scent.

# Nykaa Matte Nail polish

You're probably living under a rock if you don't know about matte nail polish. It is so trendy and everybody has been rocking a neat coat of matte nail polish. I'm a huge fan of Nykaa's range which is easily available online and in stores. I prefer nudes and pinks and opted for a rosy nude that goes well with almost everything and looks super classy.

# Victoria's Secret Perfume

If you've been following my blog since a long time you'd know that I am a big fan (or rather hoarder) of perfumes and love finding distinct scents and perfumes. The "Pure Seduction" scent is a delight for every girl. It isn't very strong and isn't too mild as well. It is just the perfect balance. Not very long lasting like most VS perfumes, but who's complaining?

# Kumkumadi teenage night cream

Another forest essentials product had to be on my favorites list! Forest Essentials has been a company that my entire family uses religiously. Needless to say, I'm a fan of their wide range of natural products and their blend of luxury and nature is very compelling. When I got to know that they had launched a cream for teenagers especially those with troubling skin, I knew I had to buy one for myself. Of course, it is pricey for a teenager, but I love the product anyway. It hasn't helped my skin change drastically and I'll have to wait a few more months to see a significant change. The product come in a medium sized box that'll last you a very long time. The consistency is amazing and the scent is good. It will help you get rid of any irritation and also redness to some extent.

# Cat eye reflectors

I have spoken about these sunglasses for so long now! I have a profound craze for cool sunglasses and can never get enough of them. These cat eye reflectors from River Island are indeed my new favorite.

# Fur Sliders

Fur sliders are sooo big this season! They are the more stylish and edgy way to wear chappals and I clearly can't get over how comfortable and stylish they are. I bought mine from Zara and you could buy them literally anywhere because they're widely available at a lot of stores.

# Quirky White sneakers

White sneakers just got an update! They have become so much more than just regular shoes and quirky patches and embroidery have made it all the more stylish. I bought mine from Shein.com They have a pineapple print on them and trust me, I'm obsessed!

Thanks guys for reading along! See you soooon.

Goa #TRAVELSTORY

It's never 'not a good time' for Goa. Undoubtedly, my favorite place in India for unwinding and relaxation. In the beginning of February I took a weekend off and enjoyed a fun trip to the Goa with my family and also, got to meet up with some of my friends who stay there. While I was there I clicked a few photos and thought it would be a good idea to share it with you guys. Unfortunately, it was a super chilled out trip so I don't have outfits to share with you guys but, here's a little look at my outfits from the getaway!

First day was just a lot of relaxation. In the evening we decided to take a trip toBaga and Calangute beach and spend the night by the sea at the lit shacks!

Called it a day after munching on some scrumptious fish fry and
chocolate mud cake!

Day 2 was a rather fun filled day. I was meeting up with friends from Goa and we decided
to spend the day at a yacht with some music and great scenic views! Here's my #OOTD Skirt:Forevernew,

Top: Forever 21, Flats: Tresmode, Glasses: Glassons

We stopped by a drop dead gorgeous location for lunch with a smashing view over the hills. The food was traditional Konkan food and I absolutely loved the place!

On our way back we did a bit of crocodile hunting and spotted quite a few of them. This was the best sight my camera could capture!

The third and final day was again a chilled out one. I spent the morning reading "One Indian Girl" on a hammock by the beach before we left for our flight in the afternoon. This was my
airport look. A cozy cropped sweat shirt wrapped up in a denim dungree and my current favorite quirky shoes, pretty much a win-win for me!
#OOTD Top: Zara, Dungaree: Stalkbuylove, Shoes: Koovs

That marked the end of my short trip, hope you guys liked reading the post! Do let me know your views in the comments and don't forget to follow me on google plus to be updated when I post.
