Weekend Getaways & Essentials

Waddup peeps! Thank you for bearing with me for being so inactive, but now since my exams have concluded I will try to be more active on here. Last weekend I went on an impromptu road trip to Lonavala and it was rather a soothing and relaxing getaway from the city hush.  I decided to share a few pictures with you guys since, the weather was gloomy and utterly beautiful. Also, I'll be sharing some essentials with you while you're on a road trip which are a must carry-on. Enjoy!

#OOTD

Top & Shoes: Forever 21, High waisted Jeans & bracelets: ONLY, Sunglasses: Tiffany & co.

#Essentials

                                                 #1 Deodorant
Road trips can get sweaty and sticky, especially during the summers. Carrying a deodorant can help you smell fresh and make you look less sweaty.

                                   #2 Speakers/headphones
Music plays a vital role in pumping up the road trip. Whether it is pop, EDM or romantic music that you like, having a speaker or headphones can just enhance the feel. I carried a blue-tooth speaker from Jack and Jones. Also, I'm listing below my current playlist for you to listen to.

> Good for you by Selena Gomez ft.  A$AP Rocky
> Can't feel my face by The Weekend
> Marvin Gaye by Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor
> Hotline Bling by Drake
> She's kinda hot by 5 seconds of summer

#3 Cute hat and sunglasses
The heat just ruins my mood and to protect myself from getting any tan or even my super sensitive skin, I never forget to carry my pair of sunglasses along with a cute hat of course for pictures

#4 Chewing Gum
This one is specially for the one's who have motion sickness. Chewing gum can actually momentarily eliminate this feeling.

#5 Lip balm and lip stick
For me my lip butter is an essential at all times because I love hydrating it from time to time. When it comes to lipsticks, my personal opinion is that by skipping makeup and applying a light coat of bright poppy lipstick can add color to your face without much effort. I'm currently loving Lakme's 9 to 5 collection in the shade "MP4 Pink Bureau"

                                         #6 A book
Hopefully, this throwback book brought a smile to your face because this read bought back so many childhood memories. Bringing a book along can revive you and entertain you at the same time.

#7 A sunscreen/BB Cream
A sunscreen sure will help you prevent damage your skin and thus, is a must carry. I prefer using a BB cream since it not only serves as a sunscreen(contains SPF 24) but also acts as a light tinted foundation perfect for a road trip.

DIY: At home spa!

Busy schedule or not, you need to make time for you, spa day to the rescue! Visiting a parlor or massage center can be a bit heavy for your pockets and oh wait, what about those lazy days when you just don't want to get out of your house? A spa day at home is inexpensive, relaxing and super hassle free at the same time. I'm sharing with you guys some "At home spa tricks" you need to know to kick start your ultimate spa day at home! Let's get started!

~ Light up your scented candles!

The first thing you need to do is make sure your room is comfortable enough for you to unwind. Make sure it smells great, is not too warm or cold and not very untidy or clumsy. Here's what you can do:

How to make your own scented candles

I bought mine from FabIndia in the flavor "Layered ocean breeze" which makes me feel like I'm in a tropical paradise. You can find them at any home ware store and trust me, they smell heavenly and are unbelievingly sooting. You can also make on yourself, here's a link to see how > How to make your own scented candles

~ Make something for you to sip!

When we're talking about relaxing, how can we miss out on the hydrating part? Making a tasty, healthy and fun smoothie is definitely an essential. Here's an easy recipe:

> Strawberry and banana smoothie:

Ingridients:

1. 1 banana
2. 1 cup strawberries
3. 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt and milk
4. 2 teaspoons honey
5. A pinch of cinnamon
6. 1 cup ice

Method: Blend all the above ingredients in a blender and viola! Smoothie is ready!

~ Pamper your face!

After a tiring day, especially during the summer, your skin tends to get oily and dull. I'm going to share an easy DIY Mask recipe which anyone can try at home.

>Besan face pack:

Beauty Tips: 20 Best Homemade Face Packs for Summer

Ingridients:

1. Gram flour/besan
2. Honey

Method: Mix gram flour and warm honey. Apply this paste to your face for 20 minutes. Wash it off thoroughly with cold water.

~ Condition your hair!

Conditioning your hair is extremely important especially during the summers. Studies claim that overnight conditioning of your hair can make your hair stronger. Conditioning your hair with warm coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of honey is probably the easiest and best way to pamper your hair.

~ Ex foliate your legs!

Dry legs are the worst nightmare for a girl. Smooth and soft legs make you feel like a goddess. I have for you guys a few tricks up my sleeves which you can try at home.

> Mix 1 and 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 cup of coconut oil and juice of 1 lemon in a jar and apply it for silky smooth legs.
>You can also try this super easy sea salt scrub. All you need to do is mix 2 teaspoon of Vaseline jelly and 1 tea spoon sea salt. Rinse off with warm water and apply Vaseline jelly to moisturize and heal dry skin.

~ Unwind with homeopathic hot packs:

Here's how you can make one yourself!
> Stuff a pair of socks with rice and essential oils. Once you're done with stuffing, sew up the other end. Place it in a microwave for about a minute. Place it on your shoulders or back to reveal yourself from pains and aches!

~ Manicure!

While you're pampering your hair, feet and face you surely shouldn't miss out on your fingers and nails. A few essentials for an at home manicure are:

 > Nail polish remover
> Cotton swabs
> Nail buffer
> Cuticle nipples and pusher
> Hand nail/hand moisturizer
> Base coat
> Nail polish

~ Make your own sauna shower!

After you're done with moisturizing, scrubbing and aplying masks, it is finally time to finish of with a hot sauna shower. Of course, I do not have a sauna and nor do you. Here's how you can turn your shower into a sauna:

 > Make sure your doors and windows are shut. Cover up the area below your doors and windows of your bathroom with a heavy cloth to prevent entry of cool air.
> Turn on your hot water for about 15-20 minutes.
> Turn it off and enjoy a warm and relaxing sauna day at home!
> Make sure you finish of with a cold water bath to gradually lower your body temperature.
> Later you can fill up your tub with flowers and bath bombs for the perfect tumblr bath!

~ Binge time!

After this super relaxing spa session, it is time to change into a comfy jumper and fuzzy slippers. I prefer tying my hair up in a towel. Before I jump into my bed, there are a few things I do:

> Scent up my blanket: All you need to do to scent your blanket is put few drops of an essential oil on a thin cloth and place it into the washing machine with your blanket. After a few minutes, your blanket is going to smell heavenly!

>  Watch all the seasons of your favorite tv sow or read a book!

> Have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate by your side but if you're more of a detoxification person a cup of green tea or lavender tea is a good choice too.

Fun with Formals!

Formals are considered boring and monotonous by many, but for me surprisingly it is something that truly tests your class and elegance. While lately everybody is vouching for vibrant colors when it comes to formals, I thought of going back to the roots and chose the monochrome black and white palette. Plazo pants fascinate me and in my recent visit to Forever 21, I found a pair of pants with a similar fit. Nowadays, blazers are not just worn for formal occasions, but also worn for informal events in a trendy way. I picked out one of my favorite linen blazer, perfect for the scorching hot summer. Let's get into the details!

Linen blazer: Cotton World, Cropped top: Forever 21,Pants: Forever 21, Wedges, Pavers England.
On the lips: Lakme 9 to 5 in the shade "Pink Bureau" (MP4)

How to stay sweat free in summer!

Indian summer has begun and all of us can definitely feel the heat! With temperatures soaring high up to 45 degree, all of us have difficulties and vows on how to look sweat free, have clean makeup, and most importantly smell good. Of course, sweating is a good sign, indicating you are healthy, but concealing sweat stains and smelling good is necessary too. This week I decided to put forward a few tips and hacks on how to stay sweat-free this summer and will keep you covered with everything ranging from hair to makeup! Hope you find it useful :D

Tip #1
~ Shop smart, wear smart and still look great!

- While shopping for summer clothes, one must make sure that they avoid silk and satin as they do not breathe very well and must opt for light weight cotton, rayon or linen.

- Opt for dark colors like brown, black or navy blue and avoid light colors such as yellow and white as they are worst at concealing sweat stains.

- My personal choice for a fashionable summer season would be maxi dresses, long slit skirts, muscle tanks, loads of colorful printed scarves, overalls and shorts.

Tip #2
~ While heading out for an all day adventure, make sure you are carrying your beauty kit with you which contains all your must-haves when you're on the go on a scorching hot sunny day. Here I have a list of all the items I prefer to carry while I'm out for an all adventure on a sunny day:

- Wet wipes
- Powder
- Mints
- Face mist
- Deodrant
- Perfume
- Extra shirt

Tip #3
~ Smell good all day with these easy steps:

- Bathe everyday at least twice with a good scented soap or even use a shower gel. Be sure to wash your hair twice or thrice a week.

- After bath, using a body mist can really make a difference since your skin is most receptive at this time. Using a body mist plays a vital role in the whole sweat free look, To make it more effective, do not forget to apply pea size moisturizer (preferably scented) at the points where you are going to be spraying the mist. This increases the efficiency of your product.

- The points where one must apply it are at your temple, wrist, elbow, behind your knee, below your ear lobe and at the base of your throat.

- After moisturizer and body mist, go ahead and apply perfume. Rubbing on the area of your body after applying perfume is useless as all it does nothing but breaks down the molecules of your perfume and decreases it's effectiveness.

Tip #4
~ Makeup hacks for summer:

- Skip heavy foundation as they are more likely to melt on sweaty skin. Use a heavy coverage BB cream instead.

- Use a primer. They will help your makeup cling longer. Make sure your primer is oil free.

- Go waterproof! Liquid eyeliner and waterproof mascara are able to withstand summer sweating. Infact liquid eyeliner lasts longer than pencil eyeliner on damp eyelids.

- Applying powder on your makeup to hide oiliness or sweat is definitely a bad idea as it will partially conceal it, but make your face look very cakey. Instead, one can keep their makeup in place by applying facial mists. It not only refreshes you and hides oiliness, but also sets up your makeup.

Tip #5
~ Pamper your hair:

- Use a good quality conditioner to bring back health into your locks.

- Do not subject your hair to additional external heat by using hair dryers, curlers or straighteners as much as possible.

-  Using a dry shampoo in between air washes can ad  to the volume and and also remove oiliness from your hair. It adds a lot of bounce and also moisture.

Hopefully this blog post has been useful. Although I have told you about all the tips and hacks, I want to update you with all my favorite products which I would recommend you use this summer.

~ Moisturizer: Especially Escada Elixir precious body perfume
This perfume is scented and compliments the perfume that I'm currently wearing.

~ Perfume: Escada Elixir

~ Deodorant: Police To Be

~ Body mist/body splash: Individuel by Mont Blanc

~ Dry shampoo: "Dove refresh+care" is perfect if you're using it between hair washes to remove oiliness or dirt. "Tresseme volume express dry shampoo" is ideal for styling and setting your hair. Also, if you want a travel size compact dry shampoo try the "Toni and Guy dry shampoo"

~ Soap: I'm currently using a good'ol natural snadalwood soap. It smells divine and I definitely recommend it. If you do not want to use something natural, opting for a "Cinthol" soap or shower gel is a great idea as it is absolutely refreshing.

~ Face Mist: Body shop Vitamin E

~ Oil blotting paper: NYX Perfect blotting paper for oily skin

~ Mascara: Maybelline collosal waterproof mascara

~ Eyeliner: Maybelline hyper sharp Liner

~ BB Cream: Garnier Skin renew

~ Primer: Benefit Porefessional

~ Wet wipes: Kara skin wipes
